Who We Are

Who We Are

Pivot Purposefully

After four years of successful entrepreneurship as Founder and CEO of Monica Motivates LLC and Pitch University ®, Monica launched Pivot Purposefully to help elevate underrepresented and formerly incarcerated women to the status of business owners.

Pivot Purposefully provides a four-pillar approach that educates, engages, empowers and enables successful entrepreneurship. Many programs focus on building job skills, not entrepreneurial skills. And they focus on men, not women. We serve women over 18 regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or income level.

What We Do

Pivot Purposefully develops and delivers entrepreneurial programming to underrepresented and
formerly incarcerated women to bring their visions from ideation to new business launch.

  • Boot camp-type retreats
  • Subject matters expert speakers
  • Access to venture capitalists and funding

Our Team

monica-mccoy-headshot

Monica McCoy
Founder

Monica McCoy, CEO of Monica Motivates and Pitch University, is a global business strategist, executive coach and consultant.  A former Acting Global Director of Strategy and Innovation for the McDonald’s Division of The Coca-Cola Company, McCoy left her corporate career to pursue her own dreams in 2017, after 15 successful years.

In 2017, Monica created and trademarked “Pitch University”. The curriculum is a blend of practical pitching knowledge and real-world experiences to help underrepresented men and women gain entrepreneur skills and capabilities to successfully move from ideation to business owner.  “Pitch University” has garnered national attention and resulted in success stories for attendees who have launched, grown, and scaled new businesses.

In 2020, Monica pivoted her business focus to helping women entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities. Recognizing that female startups received less than 3% of the $85 billion invested by venture capital firms in 2019, Monica is committed to closing the opportunity gap for women and underrepresented founders.

Monica is a graduate of Emory University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
